Finished sewing on the buttons

The weather has been pretty darn cold and

my Chambray Cardi sure is keeping me toasty warm.

I am so tickled that I've knit two sweaters that actually fits me.

Now am eager to cast on another

right away as soon as my Stitch Surfer sox are off the needle.

A new year begins

Do you ever find yourself caught up in the moment?

Becoming engrossed in an entertaining activity.

You know, something that stretches the brain,

Or that gets your creative juices flowing like lava down the mountain side?

No stopping it 'til the newness cools

Maybe it's the family circle that fulfills your days.
Time well-spent reminiscing, listening, appreciating, enjoying

The time passes so quickly . . . . .

That's the way this month has gone.

But now the Holiday Season celebrating has come to a slow-down,
Decorations are packed away
for another ten or so months [well, almost].
There's more or less time for life to fall into a routine that provides the time to center thoughts enough to plot a course for 2014.

That's the way it's been here.

My PASSION for knitting still very much occupies my thoughts and time.
Well, that and video chatting with family via Google+ Hangout and FaceTime.
How fun is that !!!!
One recent afternoon was spent knitting with my daughter on FaceTime.
How much more fun can it get?

Sweaters, sweaters.

Yes, my passion for knitting is almost entirely focused on knitting cardigan sweaters for me

The wonderful success with my green sweater,

Has provided me the confidence to chart my course for 2014.

Sweaters, Sweaters, Sweaters!!!!

My Grasshopper Cardigan is such a dream to wear.

I love it.

Very soon another cardi will be ready for its debut.

??? By the end of this week ???

These two quick triangle shawlettes finished just before the end of the year.

Aren't they cute?

So practical

what with the Polar Vortex.

Have a fantastic week!

Swatching

Lots of swatching goin' on 'round here.

I've been checking for stitch gauge and for the feel of the fabric

For my next CustomFit cardigan

It's another stockinette sweater

This time with a cable design next to the button band.

The design comes from a sweater pattern in the winter edition of Knitter's magazine

That I'd been browsing at Barnes & Noble.

It just popped right out at me.

Am going BLUE for a change.

(/(/(/(/)

The sun is shining,

Temp is up

And it's time for lunch

Two Adult Tickets, Please

While daughter Gloria was visiting
she and I went to first day
showing of
The Hunger Games:  Catching Fire

We went to the matinee and avoided the evening crowds.

When leaving the theater,
crowds there were
waiting to get into the evening showing..
Hoards of Hunger Game fans

While I am no way one of them

Yes, so Effie Trinket now resides next to my laptop.
She's rocking her blue metallic outfit.

Oh, yes,
Katniss Everdeen is right along side of Effie.

Sox Rock !

Staying cozy Friday while waiting for our wintery mix of weather to arrive.

Snow didn't come 'til evening

staying cozy involves listening to Christmas music and knitting on a triangular scarf.
I love How The Grinch Stole Christmas narrated by Boris Karloff.
Oh, Mr. Grrrrrrrinch

These grape-y purple worsted weight sox are going to be put to good use this winter.
Plus,
they're darn right wonderful feeling.

Another pair of worsted winter sox.

This pair was knit several years before I found my Passion for 40" circular needles.
This is the one and only pair
of sox knit on my Round Loom.
Not bad for a first timer.
They do keep the toes toasty warm.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Snow is falling this evening in fat clumps.
It's a wet snow, folks.
Let's hope not too much stick to the trees.

In the next couple of days the slow-cooker beef roast is going to hit the spot as the snow accumulates
- something like four to five inches is predicted -
The roast and it's veggies
and a batch of hot-out-of-the-oven cheddar biscuits
should do it.

And we'll see how the weatherman's prediction goes.
One thing for certain,
it's not going to the last time we get snow this winter.

Let it snow.
Let it snow.
Let it snow.

hugs

What A Way To Start The Day ! ! !

Oh, What a Beautiful Morning
Oh, What a Beautiful Day ! ! !
Temp is 26 degrees, feels like 17
With a Wintery mix of Precip expected later.

What better way to start a winter day than to Carmelize a pan of Onions?
Wonderful accent to our Soup at Lunchtime  ! ! !

Perhaps before the weather arrives,
we'll be able to get in a trip to
our local Barnes & Noble
for a cup of Americana
and a Holiday Sugar Cookie

Maybe even a chance to use B&N 25% off coupon!
;0

Enjoy these Winter days ! ! !

REDdy for Winter

How 'bout a pair of really, really red House Sox for
a frigid December-January!!
You're right if you are thinking you've seen
this yarn before,
still haven't cast on the socks.
But with the weather about to turn more
wintery it may be about time to get busy.
*See Footnote below

Red's a holiday color
just perfect for a mixer who beats and mixes
for our pleasure.
Think Sugar Cookies in shapes of
bells, wreaths and snowmen ! ! !

A Red cardigan will be perfect to wear
Christmas, New Years and right on through to Valentine's Day
Cupid's favorite color

Ready for Winter

Let's start with warm feet!

Began this pair of wooly-wooly sox on a round loom
very early 2008.
Put them aside when I began knitting sox
2-at-a-time on 40" circular needle
thanks to my friend Dianna and the inspiration she sent my way.

Came across the unfinished pair
[knit right up to the point of toe decreases]
so last night put them on a Size 10 needles
and finished them this afternoon.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration here.
I hope you did as well.
Our two daughters prepared our
holiday feast.
Between their labor and my 'supervision'
Just kidding about my supervision.
We enjoyed a dee-lish meal.

Afterward, the four of us here in mid-MO
had a Google Hangout [video chat]
with
and my older brother in Colombia, South America
and my youngest brother and his wife in the mountains of Southern California.

How much fun was that ! ! ! ! !

Just a terrific Thanksgiving, ever.

+ *+*+*+

Yep,
Now we are enjoying leftovers.
YUM-Meee

How 'bout you?
Are you feasting on leftovers as well?

Something(s) Blue

 Inkwell
This month's Cookie A Sock Club 2013's shipment.
Haven't decided which of Cookie A's patterns will
be cast on with this oh, so, beautiful blue,
but, you can believe that my feet will be pampered with this lovely.

The Loopy Ewe is celebrating their 7th Anniversary.
TLE originally opened in St. Louis
and recently moved her operation to
Fort Collins, Colorado.

In celebration of seven years as a small business owner,
Sheri, owner of TLE,
asked Malabrigo Yarn Company dyers to come up with a very special colorway.
Their dyers  created this colorway that, IMHO, reminds me of blue jeans.
They named this blue in tribute to Sheri by naming this special anniversary celebration yarn after her.
How cool is that ! ! !

Sheri commissioned a shawl pattern created for this particular yarn.
 Photo: product
Pattern to be available only by purchasing this
 7th Anniversary Celebration Kit
of yarn and pattern.

Beautiful Blues ! ! !

Overnite we received some much needed rain.
Lost power during the very, very early morning hours,
but have been up and running
ever since.

Today is Humpday
week's half over
as is September
