My latest finds at Barnes & Noble
I do believe I've gotten my money's worth with this one.
Ended up with a number of tabbed pages and several more that are just plain lovely.

Like this "Putney Shawl"
A cute shawlette
worked side-to-side with a quick border worked with picked-up stitches.
While the pattern states light fingering weight yarn
with a gauge of
21sts x 36rws = 4" on Size #6
I can see this worked in any of my fingering weight sock yarn.
Which I may or may not have in Stash.
Several patterns from this issue have been added to my Queue.
Time, if only . . . .

As much as the Knitscene mag was a good buy ~~
let me tell ya
this magazine
is loaded with very cool patterns.
As you may have deduced by the cover,
it's very feminine.
As I browsed the mag displays I passed it by twice, didn't think there'd be a thing I'd want to wear,
let along knit.
WRONG ! ! !
Picked it up and just had to find a seat so I could really look at it.
How could I not want to knit a pair or two of these loverlies?
But to pair it with this
photo from Jane Austen Knits Summer 2012
Margaret Dashwood Shawl
will complete the look.

An hour later,
I brought out my Mother's Day Gift Card.

Oh please, please knit the Margaret Dashwood Shawl. It is so pretty I'm tempted to knit my own.
ReplyDeleteMargaret's Shawl sized 74 x 12 takes just over five hundreds of fingering weight. Ivy, if we use a typical 420 yard skein of sock yarn we could shorten the length a bit and still get a great shawl.
DeleteI must check my Stash for an appropriate color :*)

Wow, these look like they're right up your alley! Can't wait to see which item you make first!
ReplyDeleteWon't co for a while, am committed to KALs for the summer.
DeleteGotta love deadline challenges.

Looks like you snagged a few nice books. You will have keep those needles hot to get to all of these projects.
ReplyDeleteBy this Fall these needles really ought to be smokin', Betty.

I think I will be adding the Jane Austen Knits to my collection, I adore that shawl.
ReplyDeleteYou can keep all that rain, we are in for low 80's and sunshine for the week, I'll take it! :)
Tracey, that's the first rain we've had in ages. We're already down five inches for the year. Yearly totals is ~48" I believe. Dry, Dry here.
DeleteI love looking at all those projects, plus there are some pretty good articles.

I have the Knitscene too and marked and faved a bunch of patterns on Ravelry. It's a good one. I'll have to check out the Jane Austen Knits too!
ReplyDeleteBoth mags are worth my dollars this time. Not often that happens, Janet. Had to stop by Staples for more post-it tabs.
DeleteNow, all I need is time.

I commented but I guess it didn't get posted. Anyway, LOVE the blue. Couldn't find the Knitscene at B&N; guess it's not meant to be.
ReplyDeleteWell, Nutz, Paula,
DeleteThe label states "display until September 12, 2012"
Do you suppose they already sold out??????
And, I LOVE that blue, also.

I love Knitscene Accessories magazine. Thanks for the reminder to pick it up. I bought the first Jane Austen magazine and enjoyed reading it even though I never knit anything from it. I might have to buy the second one. Love that Margaret Dashwood shawl. Thanks for sharing the pics.
ReplyDeleteStacy, I just might be going over to Barnes & Noble tomorrow after my haircut. No telling what I'll find ! ! ! I think there's a new Interweave Knits out!
