Poor gal hasn't had a new frock in ages. This sorceress' costume is going to be passe' come next week. She really needs something special for the upcoming party season.

was such an opportunity to visit so many blogs and see creative minds at work.  Everyone who participated in Natasha's swap/challenge/party showed off her accomplishments.  Oh, and what a variety of ideas! ! !  If your interest is piqued take at look.

In the meantime I’ve started a couple of new projects and haven’t gotten very far with either one, but having fun doing them.

This is the beginning of my Lucy-style Ripple Blanket.  It really does workup fairly fast.  And it is an easy project.  Check out Lucy’s tutorial.

And then, because cold weather is upon us - - - - I’ve begun knitting a neck warmer.  My inspiration is Melody's neckwarmer.  Saw it and just had to make one.  I think it’ll be just the thing to keep that cold from creeping down the neck of my jacket this winter.

It’s All About Me ! ! ! ! ! !

Here it is ! ! ! ! !  My swap, for ME ! ! ! !

This is my swap/challenge/party projects for Natasha’s Challenge.  I finished my lovely green crocheted bag [made with Amigo Nylon yarn], lined and labeled.  I love the way it drapes.  Next I sewed up a project bag using two fat quarters and a few beads.  I made it to hold several balls of cotton yarn for one of my current hooky projects. AND ! ! ! ! ! . . . . finally I have begun my own Ripple Afghan/Blanket   with some every eye-popping  brights.  All of this completed during a time when many, many days were spent at the hospital and outpatient physical therapy session while DH rehab-ed  from a fractured hip joint.  Amazing what can be accomplished.  All this -  -  -  thanks to Natasha’s inspiration.  Please take time to visit her blog Artistic Creations

Two more pair

finished and ready for wear.  I do love the Fiesta Baby Boom Yarn.  One hundred percent extrafine merino superwash – what more could a gal ask for.  I weighed both pair and found that the Summer Sox used 97 grams of yarn while the ToeUp for Ron took 67 grams.  A big difference.

Not certain what I’ll knit next as far as sox go.  Probably Cat Bordhi’s Spring Thaw that have been on the needles forever.  AND, there just might be another Stitch ‘n Bitch Fat Bottom Bag in the works.

Paper piecing

is something that I enjoy doing.  Haven’t done any in a number of months.  Not since I taught a class at the lqs.  However, this morning I was reading my favorite blogs and when I read The Some Times Crafter I just knew I had to do some paper piecing, too.  The Some Times Crafter found this paper piecing pattern at Piece by Number.  Anyway, here’s my Circle of Geese.  Whaddaya think?  How should I quilt?

Humidity

This is what the humidity looked like driving down the Blvd., with our State Capitol in the center of the view.

 

Lucky for us the temp wasn’t high enough to make it miserable.  Still, it does make the sky look ucky.

All in all our spring and summer has been the coolest in ages.  No one ‘round here is complaining.  We’ve been seeing the news reports about the newest wildfires in California and was relieved they weren’t close to Dorian’s area.  They’ve had more than enough for a lifetime in their area.

Ages, it seems like

. . . . . ages since I last blogged. But have been kept busy trying to quench my thirst for a couple of great new bags. I found these on Ravelry and have been crocheting away. Not certain what I’ll be doing with these new bags, however, the Hot Green and Yellow Starling Bag, Jr. [ FutureGirl ] is holding my Cookie A KAL project at the moment. The Fat Bottom Bag [Stitch ‘n Bitch Crochet], I know will be just the first of several. This was fun to make, easy to line. Lining these bags puts them at the top of my list of things I’m enjoying this week.

You really gotta . . . . . .

. . . . . .  gotta go visit Vanessa’s and Lucy’s blogs.  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  .  . .          do you mind if i knit and Attic24 if you want to see some wonderful eye candy.  And, that is a result of some talented gals using their sense of color.

Quiltin’ Chicks Social

and it was the smallest group in a long time.  But what we lacked in attendance we made up for in lots o’ chatter.  Seems like everyone’s been busy with their projects so A.M has lots of pics to post.

We discussed our next group project that will, this time, go to our local VA hospital.  We’ll be using the guidelines their office sent so that our efforts will be useful to the vets.  I’m certain by our deadlines we’ll have lots to show for our efforts.

This month’s KAL is at least on the needles.  So far I’ve gotten as far as the ribbing on each of the two patterns for this month. 

Have finished crocheting two projects but still have the finishing touches to complete before they’re completed.  Perhaps I’ll get to that today.

Also, still have two new software to install so that I don’t have to grouch everytime I want to use a word processor or do family history.  So will take time one day soon to get these installed.

Here it is, we’re into the second week of August - - - how time flies.

Whew ! ! ! Finally have a finished pair of Rick

The pattern is by Cookie A and is from her book Sock Innovation.

Not an easy pattern to like. Though the stitches are relatively sstraightforward the combo was not an easy knit for me. Am not real happy with this pair. We'll see if the end up frogged.

Another Look

I thought that the Fruit Compote Topper deserves a better look.  So here it is as it resembles the shapes and colors of my new teapot.  I love them both.

My second pair of Hedera is coming along.  Not certain I’ll use the Noro Kureyon Sock yarn again – not too much stretch to this yarn – but love the color and they’ll showoff the pattern just right.

  

Two More Pair Added to The Sock Drawer ! !

I began this pair more than three months ago when we first started our Knit & Crochet night on the 4th Tuesday Nite of each month.  Have finished several pair in between, especially those Raverly Cookie A’s KALs.  Now here these are really for wearing this Fall.

Now is pair began its life as Coquette by Melissa Morgan-Oakes.  By the way, it’s TOFUtsies 50% Superwash wool, 25% Soysilk Fibers, 22.5% cotton and 2.5% Chitin [which is, btw, made from shrimp and crab shells and is naturally antibacterial!]. After being frogged they were going to be Spiraling Coreolsis by Cat Bordhi but didn’t make it past the toe and foot sections, only to be abandoned for a period.  Then they became Lace Diamond from The Ultimate Sock book in the leg section only. 
BUT THEY ARE NOW WEARABLE.
So add two more pair to the list.

Crocheting is Fun !

Yet another Lucy-Style crocheted item.  This cute little tabletopper made with granny squares was joined as I went along.  A great way to connect the squares as they are made so there aren’t a large, loose pile of squares toppling all over the place.

Another beautiful day with cool temps and clear sky.  Not like our typical summer at all.  We’re enjoying it while we can knowing the weather can turn to hot and humid anytime in July and August.

Tea Cozy

Suppose I should give you a look at my finished tea cozy.  I thought there was another piece to knit, however, all I had to do was make the six leaves and knit the I-cord.

Now it’s time for a cuppa .  .  .  .

A Little Crocheting

Took time last evening and this afternoon to do a little crochet edging on a new pillowcase.  It’s been a very long time since I’ve done anything like this.  A great break from knitting socks, especially since I’m attempting to put some time between me and my latest pair of Cookie A designed socks.  As you may have guessed, the pattern is not working for me right now.  Had to frog four or so rounds and have begun picking up sts.  Ugh ! ! ! ! .

A Great Surprize

Imagine my surprize when I opened a pkg from my brother yesterday ! ! ! ! !   Just look at this tabletopper  with it’s lovely compote of beautiful fruit.  Pears, cherries and tomato.  Doesn’t go well with my newest tea set?  All matchy-matchy! ! ! !   So lovely to look at and dream .  .  .

As promised - - the progress I’ve made on Hedera by Cookie A.  This is the Noro Kureyon Sock yarn from the two swatches.

A Little Catch Up

Making progress on this pair that I cast on in March.  Doesn’t look like much considering the amount of time they’ve been on the needle.  But, you must remember, I keep these in the car and knit while on the way to our daily walk, mail check, lunch out and any other running around we need to do.  My knitting time is allotted out in 5 to 13 minutes slots.  Just time for a round or two a trip.

Here’s a skein of Noro Kureyon Sock Wool that once it was wound into two balls I couldn’t find the color repeat that would allow each sock to look identical in color wave.  The did the only thing I could think of, I knit the entire two balls into long swatches so that I could identify where to begin each sock.  Since I knit 2-at-a-time socks it looks pretty good as far as the ribbing goes.  I’ll post a pic of my progress tomorrow.

Tea Cozy beginning

This is the first side of the Tuileries Tea cozy
as you can see it's on a circular needle and I did not cast on both sides so that I could knit 2-at-a-time. Next time I'll give it a little thought first.
The Sugar 'n Creme cotton does not have the stretch that wool has and is harder to work with, but I think I'll like it when I can throw it in the washer and have it come out of the dryer as nice as all those knit dish clothes.

Second Pair in Twenty-four days

I just finished the Sage Green Sunshine by Cookie A. last night. We photographed them this morning and here they are.

Began knitting at the first of the month and then dropped them because I couldn't see the pattern. So picked up the Periwinkle and began knitting the same pattern. By the time I got to the same point as the first pair I could see the pattern the same of both pair.
Really happy that I didn't frog the Sage Green.

Anyway once I finished the Periwinkle I picked up the green and continued on - now I have two more pair of hand knit sox.

Three new pair since the beginning of May. Gee, that sure cuts down on my yarn stash. Guess I'll have to plan a trip to the lys at this rate.

2nd KAL this month

This is my progress on my second pair of 'Sunshine'.

Yes, I remember this is the first pair of Sunshine that I abandoned because I didn't think the pattern was working.

But here they are lookin' good.

Hope to have them finished and entered into the Rav KAL in the next couple of days.

Fingers crossed.

Now I will continue with the first pair of 'Sunshine' that I thought were not correct because I could not see the pattern. However, after knitting the same number of rounds with the Periwinkle I took another look at pair number one

lo and behold, there was the pattern just a clear as the photo in the book.

So I'm going to attempt to finish this pair before the end of the month and enter them also - then I'll have two chances to win the drawing.

I'm going to use Sugar 'n Creme yarn in Wine Bourgogne, Sage Green, Jute and Light Blue. As you can see, I've picked as close to the illustration as possible [allowing for the selection that Hobby Lobby would allow]

After all that's one of the reasons this cozy caught my eye.

But first I must get back to my KAL sox.

Crocheted Knitting Bag

This is what I'm calling my Mexican-style Sock Knitting Bag.

You no doubt notice it is influenced by Lucy at Attic24. It made smaller than my original Lucy-style crocheted bag in order that I can transport my sock projects around town without toting a large parcel.

I love the way it turned out. I'm using just some of the original yarns from my other bag. I've left out the pastels, thus, an entirely different feel to it.

I attached the buttons to the flower centers with snippets of yarn. I made just two different color schemes on the flowers each side of the bag match.

Hmmm, what'll my next crochet project be ??????
