Something(s) Blue

 Inkwell
This month's Cookie A Sock Club 2013's shipment.
Haven't decided which of Cookie A's patterns will
be cast on with this oh, so, beautiful blue,
but, you can believe that my feet will be pampered with this lovely.

~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~  ~

The Loopy Ewe is celebrating their 7th Anniversary.
TLE originally opened in St. Louis
and recently moved her operation to
Fort Collins, Colorado.

In celebration of seven years as a small business owner,
Sheri, owner of TLE,
asked Malabrigo Yarn Company dyers to come up with a very special colorway.
Their dyers  created this colorway that, IMHO, reminds me of blue jeans.
They named this blue in tribute to Sheri by naming this special anniversary celebration yarn after her.
How cool is that ! ! !

Sheri commissioned a shawl pattern created for this particular yarn.
 Photo: product
Pattern to be available only by purchasing this
 7th Anniversary Celebration Kit
of yarn and pattern.

Beautiful Blues ! ! !

Overnite we received some much needed rain.
Lost power during the very, very early morning hours,
but have been up and running
ever since.

Today is Humpday
week's half over
as is September

Well Kids,
Summer has arrived
here in mid-Missouri

Not terribly hot and miserable
but definitely WARM.

With lots of big clouds masking Mr Sol
giving relief from his intense attempt to fry everything.

Sat outside knitting another spa cloth for almost an hour but did not break a sweat.
So I am happy as can be with our Summer weather.

Take care ! ! ! !

Red Worsted

Is this RED or What ! ! ! ! !

This red worsted weight yarn is just the match for a blog post I read last week.
It was
Susan B Anderson's post

Guess what's on deck!

Just in time for the holidays coming up.

Btw, how is Christmas shopping coming along??

Oh,
did you notice
this yarn

Looky, it's a Loopy Ewe and a flock of little Loopys

Gotta Loves

Gotta love Joann's Half Price Shelves
Saw these boxes on
Hotazzknitter's Instagram post the other day.
Nicole aka Hotazzknitter,
has a video podcast
that I thoroughly enjoy.
Wouldn't miss an episode for anything.
If you're into Positive-ity then
she's your gal.
Click on her link above.

Her Instagram post was truly enabling.
Couldn't resist.

Our local Joann's has a pretty good selection
and I've got mine.

It is summer time.
Even if the temps don't feel like it
soft serve ice cream is still
on the agenda.

No hurry on this one
just a little change of pace from my Camp Loopy projects.

There it is ! !

Completely Wonderful ! ! !

While at the beauty salon this afternoon getting my haircut

My hair stylist was just opening her UPS shipment

just-premiering

I immediately fell for these three beauties

Took them straight from the shipping box before anyone else could.

Shop Hop Soxes, Etc.

Sox knit with the yarn we picked up in Mexico,
Missouri
during our Quilt Shop Hop last month.

These were a pretty darn fast knit, considering:

a.] they were knit on Size #2 needles
as compared to the quite a bit smaller Size #0 that I have been using recently;

b.] combined these two pair used 534 yards ! ! ! ! !

That's a lotta yards
~ .3 of a mile

Gloria's

These were knit
2-At-A-Time
on one 40" circular needle
Toe Up
using a Gusset Heel
and a Ribbed Leg/Cuff

Debbie's with a very t-a-l-l cuff

During the same period Hubby's Hell Fire, Once Again
sox were finished and bound off !

Again, knit toe up,
this time with Afterthought Heels.
Using small sized needle,
this pair used 316 yards.

With such a tight fabric
as the result of using small needle size
these should last a very long time.

So fun to knit ! ! !

Here they are
Soxes from the Shop Hop for the girls
and Sox for Hubby

Temp here is below 80 degrees F
today
Great temp for an August day.
Even had a small rain shower.

Hemp 'n Cotton

Our most recent shipment of Bare Naked yarn club arrived ! ! !
The club involves yarn from nature.
We receive bare yarn,
not dyed.
It is spun directly from the animal or plant.

This month's treasure trove
is Hemp yarn [brown]
and
Cotton yarn [white].

The hemp is grown and spun in Romania

The cotton yarn is a special cotton grown on Peruvian trees that produce naturally pigmented cotton colors.

That's what the label reads.

This month's designs are spa related

Face cloths from the cotton
Back scrubber from the hemp

I'm ready to cast on a face cloth or two
I'll show ya when I complete the first one.

RAIN ! ! ! !
Mercy, did the heavens open up yesterday evening.
For a solid fifteen minutes there was a downpour like I've seen only a few times.

I'm sure we received at least two-and-a-half inches.
The gutters were flooded to the middle of the street.
Lucky for us that we live in a hilly area and that we're not at the bottom of any hill.
Things drained fairly fast.

Well, I must cast on a face cloth and then a back scrubber.

Ta,

What's New ! !

Our  Quilt Shop Hop last week proved to be just as wonderful as we thought.
Deb and I shopped from our lists.  .  . mostly.
Gloria went a long ways to build a Stash.

One item on my Wanted List
was to build my stash re:  Modern Quilts, more-or-less

This Riley Blake Layer Cakes [ a pack of 24 pieces of 10" squares ]
Small Cheverons

I plan on cutting 10" squares of this
Moda 'Sew Stitchy' by Aneela Hoey
with all those glass-headed straight pins scattered throughout the grey
to be used as alternate  blocks with the cheverons

A quilt top along the lines of a summer throw ?  ?  ?  ?

$&$&$&$&$&$&$&$&$&$&

Malka Dubrawsky
has been one of my fav designers
so when I spied this Charm Pack of   forty-two 5" squares
I COULD NOT RESIST

Will I be pairing it with this background fabric ???
I can not say.
All I can tell you is that it did call my name as I approached it
:  ^  )

?!?!?!?!?!???!?!?!?!?!?!

Deb brought this over the other day
saying we had purchased this on our quilt shop visit some months ago.
???? She insisted I helped pick this so I guess I did.

Hmmmm, maybe something I can include in my potholder making stash.

Some Accomplishments

Last week both daughters and I went on the local Quilt Shop Hop.
There were four shops in this hop
(or hop-ette)
all located to the north of us.
We visited all four
plus one other quilt shop
for a total of five quilt shops in a day.

Each of us had our own shopping list
and we pretty much stuck to them.

I'll have pics up later this week.

***********

HOWEVER,
there was another shop along the way
that I could not resist.
It was a new-to-me shop.

Just happened to be a yarn shop

The girls and I were drawn to some pretty niffty sox and yarn.

As it turn out
we each picked a fav color combo
for some handknit sox.

Just so the daughters won't think one of them is favorite,
mom decided to knit both girls sox at the same time

So here a pic of their sox
Deb's pick on the left
Gloria's on the right

Cast these on Friday evening and plan to have these two finished tomorrow.
If there an opportunity for me to knit during our Quilt Guild Meeting this evening, that is.

The second two will be cast on immediately after that/

*///*///*///*///*///*///*///*///*///*///*

For my finished project
Here are the most current Cookie A sock pattern: TIBERIUS
and club yarn in the BLOOD ORANGE colorway

Yep, you guessed right!
This pair is for ME ! ! ! !

These are as bright as our mid-Missouri Summer Sun
