Sycamores

Sycamores
Are so messy, aren't they!
Just after a half-inch of heavy rain this afternoon.
We needed this rain,
As you can tell by the grass turning brown.

Lovely afternoon as the temp dropped with the rain.

Now the fireflies are coming out.
Lots of fireflies!

Gathering and Sorting

Gathering my embroidery paraphernalia

For an online

Rebecca Ringquist Embroidery Workshop.

This workshop is just what I need to get back to my flosses and Perle cotton.

Have been able to scrounge enough embroidery and tapestry needles so that a trip to Jo-Ann's won't be necessary.

There's more than enough DMC here to last for a

VERY long time.

Am looking forward

To threading some needles this evening.

Now, then,

Which colors are first ! ! ? ?

Ahh, rain!

There's half an inch in the gauge since 4:30 this morning!!

A New Local Quilt Shop Opening

Excerpt from a Yahoo Group posting:

" . . . Mike and I are opening a quilt store in Holts Summit. We have named it Rooster Creek.

Our opening date will be June 3rd, 2014.

It is in the building across the street from the Elementary school on Summit Drive.

Look for the 8' metal Rooster outside.

We are selling Brother Sewing Machines, Fabric, Notions, Batting, Backing, DMC floss, Jack Dempsey embroidery, and more.

We will be offering sewing and quilting classes and have a large sewing room with new Brother machines that can be used by anyone who would like to come and sew for an hour or the day.

We are offering long arm quilting services and Mike will be repairing and servicing sewing machines.

We are also working with Tin Lizzie to have a Demo machine in the store that people can rent to quilt their own projects. . . .

We are so excited to share our new store with all of you. We look forward to seeing you there."

I've Share this on FB, also.

A great opportunity for us quilters

And

For us to support a local small business person.

Hope you all are enjoying this Spring weather.

We are expecting close to 90°F temps today ! !

Will be posting Deep Sea Jellyfish Cardi soon.

Just adding last button band

Then seaming side seams

And sewing on the buttons

Hugs to each of you

Gerry

Untitled

Could not resist this colorway ! !

Oh, the Purples. And what about that Gold! ! !

When unwound its beauty was undeniable.

Such rich colors.

Once I decided it would become a lovely pair of sox I searched Ravelry for a pattern that would not interfer with the gorgeous colors.

So many great patterns to choose from.

After all the oooh-ing and ah-ing

'Honey Badger' designed by Irishgirlieknits with its eyelet pattern is just enough to keep my interest in what otherwise would have been plain Stockinette knitting.

Have not turn out exactly as I thought.

The Gold is not as predominate as I expected.

Interesting . . . .

Only a couple more inches before I cast off.

Can't wait to wear 'em.

Look What I Won !

Last week Ann Buud had a giveaway on her blog.

I was lucky enough to win a copy of one of her many books. My choice!

The one I added to the Ann Budd section of my library -

The knitter's handy book of sweater patterns

My book arrived today!!!

You know

I'll be spending this evening browsing through these pages

I like that there's a sturdy spine - the book lays flat.

Nifty elastic page keeper, too.

No more thumbimg through looking for my lost page.
