Shur'tugal

designed my Alice Yu
in her book

Smooshy
100% Merino
Cool Fire

I love this yarn
it's so smooshy.
It's a 4-ply so in spite of having no nylon for durability,
I think it'll hold up well.
The color is so very, Pink

I used the Shur'tugal pattern on the leg portion only
and because these are knit toe-up
the pattern is actually upside down.
Who Knew !!!
I get to appreciate the full effect of Alice Yu's design when I look down while walking 'round town.

All signs of Winter are gone
Forsythia and Daffodils are shockingly YELLOW !!
There are various white blossoming trees.
Some, no doubt, are Bradford Pear but have no idea what the others could be
even after living here for twenty years
I have no idea.

    1. Ain't it the truth, Tracey. Summer-like weather so early is not a good sign.
Makes a gal want to put the worsted back on the shelf.

  3. Great socks with cool toes. You should be the one to enjoy the pattern since you did all the work. I'm wondering if this weather is so messed up that we are already to summer since spring was during the winter. ???

    1. I think I'm going to use these toes for my next pair also, see if I truly like 'em.

  5. So pretty! And I've never seen toes done like that - looks very durable!

Are the dogwoods and redbuds blooming? I miss my dogwood tree. You don't see them nearly as much here in Chicago.

    1. The toes are a standing rib. taken from Cat Bordhi's Spring Thaw Sox.

Haven't seen either blooming yet. While we were driving home this afternoon we saw Tulip trees, I was keeping my eye out for Redbuds and or those lovely dogwoods, but nothing yet.

      I'll keep ya posted.

    2. Oh tulip trees! I forgot about those! One of my neighbors in St. Louis had a giant, old magnolia, and it was always the very first thing to bloom. She lived right across the street, and I could see her tree from my kitchen window! Someday I want my own magnolia tree :-)

  6. These even have fancy toes. You need toeless shoes to show them off.
I think some of the white trees in bloom are a magnolia of some sort.

  7. My Forsythia really opened up today while I was at work. I just hope this incoming storm doesn't ruin it.

You think we will pay for this beautiful spring weather? I've seen snow on Easter before!

    1. Patti, do not say that 'S' word
I know that quite a few people have mentioned about snow on Easter. I sure hope not.
We're having lots of thunder and lots of lightening
but only a couple of drops of rain so far.

  8. Gorgeous socks! That is quite a different toe--I wonder how it will feel in shoes. Oh well, you said this was really smooshy yarn, so you probably won't feel the ridges.

  9. When I wore these sox out to lunch the other day
I noticed nothing unusual about the toes. In fact,
Hadn't given it a thought 'til just now when you mentioned it.
I think this toe will work really well for a re-enforced toe.

    1. You're right about how cushion-y these feel, Evelyn.
As soon as I knit a bit more from the stash
Dream in Color yarn might be coming to my house.
      But first to knit.
Only four active projects on the needles right now.
Well, yes, there are another 3 pair of fingerless mitts on the needles but not in any way, shape or form are they priority knitting since our temps have been in the mid-80s for the past week.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  11. Your socks look SO good, Gerry! I love that pink, too. It sounds like spring is in full blossom where you live. We are finally getting some rain here in Northern CA after the driest winter on record.
