Autumn Projects

Our Sycamores have been dropping leaves for more than a month now
and a just beginning turning to rusts and golds.

Crepe Myrtles have been in bloom since the beginning of August and are as lovely as ever.
This is the first year they've come into their own.
Nature must have treated them just so.

These bee Sedum.
Have I told you how much I love my Sedum  ?
They reward me from the time they break ground first thing in the Spring,
blooming during the summer,
fading to a beautiful brown for the winter months,
and acting as snow catchers in January and February
looking as though there's a flowerbed of snow flowers.

If I'm not mistaken DD#2 mentioned just last week that these are her most favorite flowers.
Isn't that so, sweetie?

  1. We have a lot of sedum here in the garden, planted by a previous owner. I love it for the same reasons. It's the first plant to peek out of the soil in the late winter and it shows off through the fall. Love it.

  4. I love the colors in your pictures and am so jealous! I do miss the changing of the seasons that are so noticable in other parts of the country.
Size 8 is huge? I think that is my favorite size. It might be because that it the size I learned with and my husband bought me a great pair of wooden needles. I guess I'm getting sentimental in my old age! ;)xx

  6. What a beautiful, interesting blog Gerry! I love your autumn photos and I love that pink and purple shawl. I don't know when I would have the time but I am tempted to try and make one. BTW, I was living in Flagstaff before Sydney. Where did you live in AZ?
