A while back I made a couple of pillows using patterns take from
Ladies of Leisure - Vintage Quilts - Linens & More!

After transferring the pattern and embroidering I colored with Crayola Crayons.
Just the regular school box crayons.
Using a hot iron and parchment paper [to keep the crayon wax off my pressboard] they were heat set.
Here they are!
How 'bout her nose.
I adore each of these two gals and smile every time I pass by.
Beautiful job on the pillows! I never knew one could use ordinary crayons on linens in that way. I must find that book!
ReplyDeleteI have used wax fabric crayons on paper and then transferred the design with a hot iron. School crayons sounds a much simpler idea - will give it a go. Love those cushions.

Yes, living in an low-population state with extreme weather can be challenging, especially for a Southern "inside girl." Most just ooh and ahh over the scenery and tell me it must be like being on vacation all the time. So, thank you for your post. You must have one strong gift of intuition!

I haven't tried coloring my designs. Do you color before you stitch or after? Have you tried colored pencils? AND finally, will it work on muslin or does it have to be linen?
